The owners of the BP station in Troy will be attending the 2012 Olympic Games next month in London, courtesy of BP – an official oil and gas partner for the U.S. Olympic and U.S. Paralympic Games.
Dan and Martha McKenzie will be going to three sporting events at Olympic Park in London, as well as other sporting events at venues across the city, BP said.
According to the oil company, the couple will be attending the Olympic Games as the company’s guests and will be joining the BP London 2012 team.
The McKenzies will also be attending a reception at the Royal Opera House hosted by BP’s executive team.
They will have the opportunity to experience the “Olympic Journey” exhibition, a collaboration between BP, the Olympic Museum and the Royal Opera House, telling the story of the games through artifacts, graphics, film and audio.
According to BP, they will have the opportunity to meet with senior BP leaders and also get a private tour of BP’s technology showcases where the company will share and discuss energy challenges.
The couple was also awarded a trip to the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center and met with many of the upcoming athletes.
The games will feature more than 10,000 athletes and 70,000 volunteers hailing from more than 200 countries.
The McKenzie Oil Co Inc. has owned and operated the local BP station since 1995.
