The Troy City Council will hold a public meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday at Troy City Hall to consider authorizing and approving the use and grant of public funds to assist the Troy Hospital Health Care Authority with the operation of Troy Regional Medical Center.
Troy Mayor Jimmy Lunsford said that Troy Regional Medical Center is having serious problems with the air conditioning system in the operating room and is using a temporary cooling system.
“The hospital is having to replace the air conditioning system at a cost of $350,000,” Lunsford said. “It is critical that the temperature in the operating room be kept at certain levels. So, the hospital has no choice but to replace the air conditioning system.”
The public meeting is being held in order for the City of Troy to receive authorization to guarantee the Authority’s loan that is necessary to purchase the needed equipment. Lunsford said that continued operation of the hospital, together with the provision of the assistance, will promote and continue economic and industrial development within the city.
The meeting is open to the public.
