H.T. “Tommy” Strother

H.T. “Tommy” Strother, Age 85, born July 1, 1927, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at his home. Tommy was the son of JB and Juanita Strother and graduated from Pike County High School and attended the University of Alabama. He was retired from the United States Navy. From 1952 until 1976 he was the owner of Peoples Electric Company of Brundidge. He was a member of the board of trustees at the Alabama Electric Coop (Powersouth) for 8 years. He was the CEO of Brundidge Banking Company from 1976-1995 and also served on the State Banking Board. Tommy was a faithful member of the Brundidge United Methodist Church for years where he served on the PPR Committee, Finance Committee, Administrative Committee and Board of Trustees. He was a lay speaker for 30 years and also served on the Alabama- West Florida United Methodist Foundation. He was a long time member of the Brundidge Lions Club. Tommy spent much of his Retirement visiting with friends at the Troy Health and Rehab

Funeral Services for H.T. “Tommy” Strother will be held Friday, September 28, 2012 from the Brundidge United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM with Reverend Michael Lawler officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery .Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge directing. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 4-6 PM at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge . Survivors include;

Wife of 60 Years, Elva Rhodes Strother, Daughter, Debbie Strother of Green Cove Springs , Fl., Sons, Barron Strother (Nancy) of Santa Rosa Beach,Fl., Hank Strother (Maria) of Brundidge, Grandchildren, Shelli Strother Allen, Marietta Ga., Morgan Strother Palmer (Will) of Santa Rosa Beach, Fl., Jay Strother (Melissa) of Albany ,Ga., Erica Strother Moncrief (Dean) of Panama City Beach, Fl., Evan and Elaina Strother of Brundidge, Great Grandchildren, Jon Mathew Strother, and Annie Rose Allen, Fordham Palmer and Jack Strother, Sister, Susie Strother Hastey of Brundidge, Sister-in-law, Mayretta Strother of Brundidge, Several Nieces and Nephews. Mr. Strother was preceded in death by his parents, JB and Juanita Strother, Sister, Jean Strother Cousins and a brother, Joseph B. Strother. Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Strother, Evan Strother, Jay Strother, Will Palmer, Matt Allen, Mike Armstrong, Britton Mitchell and Dean Moncrief. Honorary pallbearers will be he AGAPE Sunday School Class of Brundidge United Methodist Church.
