What’s sweeter than the syrup on pancakes? Knowing that eating those pancakes is funding two charities.
Troy University Dining Services is partnering with Farmhouse Fraternity for FHilanthroCakes, an after hours pancake dinner that will provide money to Be the Match and Helping Hands Across America.
“We are very close to our student community and we look for ways to be a part of the student organizations on campus,” said Sheetal Nangia, marketing manager for Troy University Dining Services. “When we heard about the cause, it was icing on the cake.”
Dining Services is providing the location, pancake batter, sausage and orange juice and the FarmHouse men will be sweating in the kitchen to feed hungry pancake fans.
Be the Match is a national bone marrow donor initiative that is tied to FarmHouse’s national philanthropy, the National Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. And the fraternity was nice enough to offer half the proceeds from the event to Dining Services for a charity they support – Helping Hands Across America, an initiative to stop hunger.
FHilanthroCakes will be held tonight from 8 to 11 at Magellan’s at Trojan Dining. Tickets for the event are $5 and can be purchased from FarmHouse Fraternity members.
As part of a full day of awareness planned by Farmhouse, the organization will hold a Be the Match Bone Marrow Donor Drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. where people can sign up to be on a donor registry and matched with cancer patients worldwide.
The event is also sponsored by Momma Goldberg’s Deli and Troy University Civic Engagement & Service Learning.
