Fashion made simple at Female Factor

The ladies at the Female Factor spend much of the year learning about health and financial issues, but November’s installment of the monthly lunch and learn series was all about fun.
The topic was “Holiday Hair and What Not to Wear.”
Anna Garrott Denny, former Nashville singer songwriter turned fashion guru, spoke to the ladies present about proper fit and the basics every woman needs to have in her wardrobe.
“There’s no such thing as a bad body,” Denny said, “only bad fitting clothing.”
Denny talked about the importance of finding the right fit for individual proportions and using a tailor to make sure clothing fits perfectly.
“Instead of trying to make a size work for you, go up a size and have it tailored down to your shape,” Denny said.
Denny also told the ladies there are six basic pieces every woman should have in her closet: a little black dress, perfect white T-shirt, nude shoes, a great pair of jeans, a white oxford shirt and a good coat you love to wear.
And Denny offered what she considers one of the best pieces of advice when it comes to shopping, if you don’t love what you try on, leave it at the store.
“Chances are, it’s going to end up in your closet and not on you,” Denny said.
Denny spends her time in marketing for Florida-based Judith March clothing.
Also at the meeting, Misty Bryan, Tracey Koche and Juliette Adams gave live makeovers to three ladies. They were styled with hair, make-up and clothing tips. Shannon Witherington, Cathy Beckett and Doristine Sankey were the makeover models.
Female Factor meets each month at The Studio in downtown Troy and is free to attend.
