Troy Police have arrested a man wanted for using a screwdriver to rob a woman at a gas station in Troy Sunday.
Eric Dewayne Hunter, 45, from Goshen, was arrested Monday afternoon in connection with the Sunday afternoon robbery.
The victim and her daughter were passing through Troy on their way home to Florida when they stopped at the BP gas station on U.S. Highway 231 for a rest stop. The two women went into the restroom together, according to police, at which time Hunter allegedly snatched the door open and confronted the victims. Hunter grabbed for the mother’s purse and she resisted before Hunter pulled out a screwdriver and tried to stab her.
Police report Hunter got into an older model Dodge pick-up truck and fled the scene in an unknown direction without gaining any of the victim’s property.
Hunter is being held in the Pike County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
The case remains under investigation by TPD.
