Troy defeats Alabama State, 66-62

Troy improved to 4-2 on the season with a 66-62 win over Alabama State on Sunday.
The Trojans built a nine-point lead midway through the second half before Alabama State cut it to four with 27 seconds remaining. Troy used a pair of free throws from Emil Jones to hang on for the win.
Jones finished with a season-high 18 points. Alabama State’s Joshua Freelove scored a game-high 24.
Senior Justin Wright played in his first game of the season. Wright checked in with 6:48 left in the first half. he would score just three points in the game and finish 1-for-6 from the field.
Antoine Myers and Hunter Williams scored 10 points each for the Trojans.
Alabama State shoot 45% while the Trojans managed to hit 43% of their shots.
The Trojans victory marks the quickest to four wins since the 2007 season when the team also started 4-2.
Troy will take on UAB on Tuesday. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
