In small towns and communities around the United States, helping your freinds and neighbors is expected and appreciated.
Camp Butter and Egg is lending a hand to the Troy Parks and Recreatiuon Department’s effort to build the Miracle League playground at the Troy Sportsplex on Enzor Road.
Camp Butter and Egg is thinking outside the box and latching on to one of the nation’s hottest exercising techniques for the fundraiser.
The camp will host a 5k Mud Run on Jan . 19 at 10 a.m. The Mud Run will consist of a obstacle course across the grounds at the camp and will include cargo nets, hills, hay bales and of course, plenty of mud.
“It is something that is really popular all over the country right now,” said Susan Pierce, co-owner of Camp Butter and Egg. “It will be a good experiecne to bring something like this to Troy.”
The 5k course will be for adults and teenagers, while the young mudders will work a 1.3 mile course.
The event is open to all ages, and awards will be presented to the best time in all age groups.
The staff at Camp Butter and Egg will coordinate the event, with proceeds going to help the contrustction of the new Miracle League Playground.
“We guarantee a good time and promise that you will not go home clean,” said Pierce.
Entry fees for the event are $30 for adults and $15 for children, with discounts for military personnel and college students. Water and fruit will be provided runners.
