Now is the time to focus on our future

In the November 2012 elections, the people of Alabama sent an unmistakable mandate to those of us serving in every public office: develop a clear plan to operate government more efficiently and more effectively, while at the same time limiting its size and scope. As a result, I will continue my efforts to make the Pike County Probate Office the best in the state and operate our office according to the highest standards.
As with any organization, the Pike County Probate Office must rely on its employees and staff to make sure we stay true to our mission. I want to thank our team because each team member works extremely hard. We have outlined our goals, put plans into action and we strive every day to conduct business in an appropriate manner while being fair and accessible. I look forward to continuing that mission in the years ahead.
The duties of the probate office vary from county to county, but here in Pike County, the jurisdiction of the probate office is wide and varied. Our duties include proceedings in probate court, deed & mortgage recording as well as preservation of vital documents, licensing official (i.e. car tags, business, driver’s, hunting, fishing & marriage licenses), the chief election official and our office is a passport application acceptance facility.
The Pike County Probate Office believes that government should create an environment in which businesses, entrepreneurs, and investors can be successful. Government should not be an impediment to job creation and economic growth. Moreover, elected officials and government employees should be working diligently to find innovative solutions that foster and promote private sector job growth.
Here in Pike County, we have the hardest working people in Alabama, and the sky is the limit for what we can accomplish. Leadership is required for communities to be successful and vibrant. In my opinion, strong conservative leadership is the way forward. When we choose to limit government, keep taxes low and reduce red tape, our way of life is improved.
With this in mind, we must ask ourselves what type of community we want to pass along to future generations. Are we as elected officials planning five, ten, twenty years in the future and beyond? Now is the time to focus our efforts on the future; we must not simply be reactive because we will only fall behind.
I want to thank the citizens of Pike County for electing me as Probate Judge. It is an honor and privilege to serve. My goal is straightforward: work every day to serve the citizens of Pike County because building a championship community requires championship preparation & execution, which includes good old-fashioned hard work.
The Pike County Probate Office will always do our best to provide effective, efficient and responsive government to the taxpayers.
