Bush Memorial Baptist Church in Troy will host a Block Party at Murphree Park from noon until 4 p.m. on Saturday and everyone is invited.
There will be inflatables, live music, games, contests and burgers and ’dogs hot off the grill and it’s all free.
“This is an outreach to the community with the hope that folks from all walks of life can be brought together to fellowship for one afternoon,” said Zack Johnson, an intern at Bush. “We’ll have games and contests for children and adults so there will be something for everyone.
“Daniel Murphy, who is our interim worship leader, and his band will entertain. They play mainly Christian music but it’s acoustic music so they play more of a bluegrass style. It’s good music that everyone will enjoy.”
Johnson said there will be raffles with good prizes.
“We’ll not selling tickets for the raffles,” he said. “They’re for everybody and just for fun.”
A time will be set aside for the sharing of personal testimonies by several people.
“We wanted to have an event that would get the entire community together for a time of fellowship,” Johnson said. “The Block Party is not just for those who attend Bush, it’s for everyone in our community to come and enjoy. Everyone is invited.”
