Troy football spring roundup: Special Teams

KICKER/PUNTER/SNAPPER/HOLDER
Who’s Gone: NONE
Who’s Back: Will Scott, Ryan Kay, Kendall Gibson, Hunter Graham, Jed Solomon
Most Improved: Ryan Kay is looking to take over as the full-time punter. Odd thing about this is that Kay was recruited to be Troy’s kicker and Will Scott the punter. Those roles have reversed but Scott is the go-to guy in all roles right now.
Sleeper: Jed Solomon saw some action last year as the kickoff guy. He could return to that role if the opportunity presents itself.
RETURNERS
Who’s Gone: Justin Albert
Who’s Back: Daron White, Chandler Worthy, Brandon Burks, Bryan Holmes
Most Improved: Bryan Holmes and Chandler Worthy take the most improved award here. Holmes, who has blazing speed and catches the ball with confidence, looks to be the No. 1 guy for both kicks and punts. Worthy was Troy’s leading kick returner last season with 23 for 507 yards (22-yard average). He has improved his catching ability this spring and looks to be more comfortable as a returner.
Sleeper: Both Daron White and Brandon Burks have experience with kick returns and could see action in 2013.
