While the players in the majors are just getting their season rolling, the baseball and softball teams in the Troy Parks and Recreation leagues are getting down to business.
The regular season enters the final week, and teams are jockeying for position in the standings as the end draws near.
In Dixie Boys, the Mets lead the Marlins by just one game, with the A’s close behind at 3-2 on the season.
In Dixie Minor, the Diamondbacks, Rockies and Athletics have distanced themselves from the pack.
The White Sox control the Dixie Youth standings, and the Farm League features three teams, the Rangers, Cubs and Devil Rays, with at least 10 wins.
The Dodgers lead the Braves by three games in Pre-Minor action.
Over on the softball diamond, the action is just as intense.
In Angels action, the Destroyers have a two-game lead on the Dash and Honey Bees, and a three-game margin over the Bombers.
The Darlings league features the closest race of any division, as the Hot Rods and Aqua Sox are separated by just half a game. The Wild Angles sit just another half game behind the Aqua Sox.
SWAT leads the Ponytails league by a couple of games over the Outlaws and Bama Belles.
Softball games are played at the Troy Sportsplex, while baseball games are split between the Sportsplex and Franklin Field.
Admission is free.
