Judge John Brantley Crawley

Judge John Brantley Crawley, age 73 of Brundidge, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. Graveside services will be Friday, June 7, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Banks City Cemetery with Rev. Robert E. Lee, Dr. Rodger Hildreth and Judge Ben Bowden officiating and Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Friday, June 7, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Crawley received his law degree and undergraduate from the University of Alabama and was an attorney in Troy for 25 years. He was a Circuit Judge from 1991-1993 in the 12th District, an Associate Judge on the ALabama Court of Civil Appeals from 1995-2005, Presiding Judge of the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals from 2005-2007 and retired in 2007.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Douglas Crawley, mother, Wonnie Mae Bowden Crawley and brother, William Douglas “Pete” Crawley. He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Sherrie Johnston Crawley; son, Brantley Johnston Crawley of Montgomery; brother, Lawrence “Larry” Bowden Crawley of Brundidge; and sister, Nancy Crawley Banks of Ashville, AL.

Pallbearers will be Rafe Banks, Jimmy Hollis, Bill Crawley, Alan Spencer, Tom Crawley, Bart Hildreth and Steve Laney.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brundidge Public Library at Tupper Lightfoot Memorial Library (Brundidge Public Library) 164 S. Main, Brundidge, AL 36010-1809 or the Shepherd Center in Atlanta at Shepherd Center Foundation, 2020 Peachtree Rd, Atlanta, GA 30309.
