Although it appears a little low, the Conecuh River is still within normal variations for the season, according to officials. The river flow, gauged by the U.S. Geological Survey at Brantley, Ala., is “below the historical average, but still within the normal variations seen throughout the year,” Larry Childers, director of Communications and Information for the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs said in an email Monday. The area has been designated as “abnormally dry” according to Childers. The staff is monitoring the impact of recent rain before updating the designation.
