Troy tennis coach Eric Hayes headed to Mercer

Troy tennis head coach Eric Hayes has resigned his position with the Trojans effective July 1 in order to accept a job with Mercer University in Macon, Ga.
Hayes has led the Troy tennis program for 11 seasons but said the move was best for his family. He also thanked all the Troy tennis supporters as well as sponsors of the USTA Tennis Classis of Troy, which will likely make the move to Macon with Hayes.
Hayes is expected to be introduced at Mercer during a press conference Thursday afternoon.
The men’s team had a combined 60-103 record in Sun Belt Conference play while the women have a 109-77 record in seven seasons in the Sun Belt.
Before his time at Troy, Hayes spent seven seasons at the head tennis coach at North Carolina State.
Hayes a Suffern, NY, native played at Carson-Newman College where he was a four-year all-conference selection.
