Charles Henderson High School rising junior Chase Smartt has committed to play baseball for Troy.
Chase, the son of Troy assistant Mark Smartt, is a rising junior who batted .401 for the Trojans last season.
Smartt, who made the announcement via his Twitter account on Monday, started at catcher for Charles Henderson and helped lead them to the AHSAA Class 4A State Championship.
In 42 games, he hit two home runs with 47 RBIs. Smartt tied for the team lead with 23 extra base hits and lead the Trojans in doubles with 20.
Chase’s sister, Taylor, is a senior infielder for the Troy softball team.
Smartt becomes the second Troy high school baseball player to commit to a Division I school. Pike Liberal Arts rising senior Chandler Avant committed to play for Alabama earlier in the year.
