BOE makes seven new hires

Troy City Schools Board of Education members approved seven new hires at a called meeting Thursday.
The board’s only agenda item was personnel action. Members also approved one resignation and one transfer/hire.
According to Superintendent Lee Hicks, only one of the new hires is coming from local funds. The rest are supported by the state education foundation budget.
“This is a $600,000 a year savings by not filing out those openings. We’re not hiring a lot of local units back,” Hicks said.

Troy Elementary School
• Resignation of Denise Barr Adams, fifth-grade teacher at Troy Elementary School, effective Aug. 1
• Transfer/hire of Tracey Thomas, reading coach at Troy Elementary School, effective Aug. 5
• Hire of Mallory Rhodes as teacher at Troy Elementary School, effective Aug. 5
• Hire of Mandi Davis as teacher at Troy Elementary School, effective Aug. 5
• Hire of Kelly Buck as special education teacher at Troy Elementary School, effective Aug. 5
• Hire of Nikki Johnson as teacher at Troy Elementary School, effective Aug. 5
• Hire of Nikki Allen as teacher at the Alternative Learning Center, effective Aug. 5
• Hire of Jon C. Clements as physical education teacher/head football coach at , effective Aug. 5
• Hire of Alissa Jordan, seventh- and eighth-grade science teacher, part time, effective Aug. 19
