Troy baseball commits have family connections to program

Three of Troy’s baseball commits have ties to the program.
Chase Smartt’s connection to the Troy baseball program are obvious, his father is assistant coach Mark Smartt. The Charles Henderson High School catcher will be a junior and is ranked by Perfect Game as the No. 1 prospect in the 2015 class.
On Tuesday, Perez Knowles announced via his Twitter account that he would play for the Trojans. Knowles is the younger brother of current Troy outfielder Ali Knowles. Perez, a left-hander, will likely get the opportunity to pitch and play the outfield for the Trojans.
Brody Binder has committed to play baseball but won’t sign his scholarship papers until November; the star quarterback for Ooltewah High School is keeping his football options open. Binder is the brother of Trojan TJ Binder who will be a sophomore at Troy. Brody is a 6-2, 220-pound catcher with raw power that Troy hopes to develop.
