Three people are in custody following a burglary in Pike County.
According to Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas, the men were arrested after a burglary of a business and a home on Dec. 14. Kenneth Ray Phillips, 21, of Crenshaw County, was charged with burglary. Joseph Thomas Carroll, 23, of Troy, and Christopher Robert Taylor, 24, of Luverne, were charged with Receiving Stolen Property.
According to Thomas and investigators, the suspects are alleged to have stolen a truck from Pronto Grassing at 1626 County Road 3304.
The Troy Police department later found the truck “purposefully wrecked,” Sheriff’s Department investigator Lt. Frank Wheeler said. Police suspect that the alleged burglars wrecked the truck shortly after stealing it. After finding the vehicle, police contacted the owner of the vehicle, Chad Thrush, who rushed out to the wrecked vehicle.
While Thrash was away from his home, police allege the same suspects broke into the home and stole guns, bows, and four wheelers.
Investigators in Pike and Crenshaw Counties have recovered one gun and two bows connected with the burglary.
The case is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department, TPD, Brundidge Police Department and Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office.
