Dubose ‘beating down the halls’ as spring nears

Charles Henderson head coach Jamey Dubose carries his clipboard almost everywhere he goes, because he doesn’t want to miss an opportunity to make a sales pitch.
He is always willing, and eager, to take down the name, and size, of any potential football player he meets during the school day.
Dubose has had large-number teams at every stop along his coaching career, and plans to do the same at Charles Henderson.
“We have a lot of kids out, and the numbers are climbing,” said Dubose. “We may not keep them all, because some may drop along the way. We are working to get them right in the classroom if they are struggling, so they can be eligible. I’m just beating down the halls and making sure to visit the lunchroom to talk to guys coming in an out.”
While Dubose is searching high and low for every player he can find, he also wants to use the pre-spring period to locate talent.
Charles Henderson must replace nearly all of the starting offensive and defensive line, the majority of the receiving corps and key positions on special teams.
“We have to locate players and guys that can help us,” said Dubose. “We have a lot of new guys out. We have a lot of guys that we don’t know about. We want to find out if they can help us, and to what extent they can help us next year.”
Charles Henderson will hold begin spring practice in late April, “at or around April 28” Dubose said.
The Trojans can practice for a total of 10 days during the spring.
