Three Charles Henderson golfers took part in the AHSAA Sectionals Monday afternoon; with Lindsay Lee carrying the Trojan banner the highest.
Lee finished fifth in the event in Mobile, the highest finish for a Charles Henderson female since 2005.
Lee sat in third before the last group of golfers checked their scorecards after finishing their respective rounds, but was bumped out of the state match.
“I was trying to keep up with the guys and help them, but I was also texting her mom the entire time,” said Charles Henderson head coach Shelby Tuck. “She told me that she was proud to get the experience of being there, but also said next year is her year. As a coach, that is what you want to hear.”
While Lee was in Mobile, Tuck was in charge of two male golfers at the boy’s sectional site in Andalusia.
Riley Williamson and Carter Ray represented the boys, with Williamson bringing home the 13th best score.
“I am extremely proud of both of the guys,” said Tuck. “They fought back from a bad start, and did an outstanding job. Monday was just another step on the journey that we want to finish one day. The goal is to one day win a team state title, and we are making progress every time out.”
Tuck wanted to personally thank Dianna Lee, Lindsay’s mother, for taking time out of her schedule to accompany Lindsay to the match in Mobile on Monday.
