The tournament teams for the upcoming Dixie Baseball and Softball tournaments have been selected and the teams are busy prepping for the sub-district tournaments.

The Troy teams have brought home numerous state and World Series championships through the years, including state titles in O-Zone Rookie Baseball, AAA Rookie Baseball and Ponytail Softball last year.

Troy Parks and Recreation Youth Sports Coordinator David Dickey said that the tournaments are usually very good to the Troy teams.

“Our tournament teams generally do very well in tournament play,” Dickey Said. “They have won a lot of tournaments and advanced many times to state and national play, including winning the Dixie Boys World Series in 1991 and 2004, the Dixie Minor World Series in 2005 and the AAA Pitching Machine World Series in 2012”

Troy will host all Sub-District Softball Tournaments June 20-26, the Dixie Boys District Tournament July 7-11 and the Dixie Minor AA State Tournament July 18-24.

Dicke feels Troy is the perfect place to host the tournaments.

“It is a lot of work, but we do our best to make sure every player, coach, parent and spectator has a good time,” Dickey said. “It is a busy time of year and we enjoy it.”
