Troy will hold its first-ever Father’s Day Pledge march and rally today. Families are invited to gather for a prayer at the Pike County Courthouse at 10 a.m. The gathering will start a walk from the Courthouse to the steps of City Hall at 10:45 a.m. where men will be asked to pledge to end violence in their homes and communities.
Troy City Councilwoman Dejerilyn Henderson and the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials organized the event.
“This is to get these men to come forward and say that you’re going to do something worthwhile,” said Henderson.
In case of rain, the group will gather at City Hall and take the pledge.
