Kevin Bryan, Troy O-Zone head coach summed up his team’s night at the District Tournament as simply as he could.
“We were just beat by a better team,” Bryan said.
Troy fell to Enterprise 10-0 Wednesday night in Hartford, but earned the runner-up spot in the tournament and a seed in the Sub-State Tournament in the coming weeks.
Troy trailed 3-0 in the fourth inning, before things began to go south. A couple of costly Troy errors allowed Enterprise to plate seven runs and seal the tournament titles with the lopsided win.
“We played really good baseball for three-and-a-half innings, and then the wheels fell off,” Bryan said. “We played well for a few innings the other night, and then we didn’t. Enterprise was just the better team at this tournament, but if we do our job, we will probably see them again down the road.”
Despite the loss, Bryan said is team has plenty to be proud of.
“There are five pretty good baseball teams that aren’t getting to play somewhere this week,” Bryan said. “We do get to keep playing. We want to keep playing one more week, until there aren’t anymore weeks to play.”
