Pike Liberal Arts boy’s basketball got off to a fast start Thursday night, but ultimately could not finish, losing big to Hooper 60-46.
The Patriots got on the board first in the first quarter, by way of a quick 7-5 lead against Hooper.
But as they did all game, three-pointers proved the undoing of PLAS early in the first when the Colts tied the game at eight a piece off of a quick 3-pointer.
From there, the Patriots never lead again in the game.
PLAS wasn’t without their chances in the game, though.
Down 13-8 at the end of the first quarter, the Patriots went on a 7-2 run, tying the game at 15-15.
But fouls and turnovers in the second quarter gave Hooper ample chances to regain the lead, which they took advantage of, going into halftime up 25-24.
But in the second half, turnovers continued to plague PLAS.
The Patriots were also dominated in the paint, being outrebounded and outscored in the third quarter 12-10.
And in the fourth quarter, the Colts iced the game, going on several runs to take a double digit lead for most of the final period.
Hooper’s largest lead of the game came on a 3-pointer with two minutes remaining to put the Colts up 16.
The Patriots tried to chip away at the deficit, but failed, losing by 14 to the Colts.
