In recognition of his back-to-back double-double outings against Alcorn State and Central Arkansas last week, Troy senior forward Kevin Thomas has been named Sun Belt Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
After a 14 point, 10 rebound showing against Alcorn State, Thomas followed up with a career-best 22 point, 11 rebound effort against Central Arkansas Dec. 6
Thomas currently ranks seventh in the nation in rebounding, averaging 4.5 offensive boards per game. He is also shooting 66 percent from the field, good for eighth nationally.
Thomas is the first Troy player to be named Sun Belt Player of the Week since Tevin Calhoun was awarded the honor last season following Troy’s wins at Arkansas State and the University of Arkansas-Little Rock.
The Ajax, Ontario, Canada native will look to keep his high offensive output going Thursday when the Trojans travel to Dothan to meet Fort Valley State.
