Robert “Bob” Edwin Nunnelee

Mr. Robert “Bob” Edwin Nunnelee, born May 21, 1926, died Saturday evening on January 3, 2015 at his home in Mt. Moriah, Pike County, at age 88. He served in the US Army during World War II. He was a former resident of Montgomery where he retired from AT &T after 40 years of service.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Reverend Al Sonanstine officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Lebanon Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 pm and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Sara Nunnelee Cherry, his parents Homer and Erie Nunnelee, 2 brothers Walter Loyd Nunnelee and George Nunnelee, three sisters Lois Ingram, Wilma Sellers and Glen Kelly.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Joanne Herndon Nunnelee, 2 sons Charles Nunnelee and Jim (Mikele) Nunnelee, daughter Peggy (Al) Nunnelee Sonanstine, son-in-law Dean Cherry, 6 grandchildren: Jason (Kim) Sonanstine, Adrienne (John) Sonanstine Slavins, Kline (Anna) Cherry, Danielle Cherry, Brittany (Joe) Nunnelee Elder, and Taylor Nunnelee, great grandson Wilson Robert Sonanstine, sister Nell Synco Whitman, and brother-in-law Bert Fowler. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Active pallbearers will by Jason Sonanstine, Kline Cherry,Taylor Nunnelee, John Slavins, Loyd Nunnelee and Thomas Synco. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class at Oak Grove Methodist Church, his fellow employees at AT&T, Eddie Hix, Jerry Penton, Ray Williams and Ron Williams.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Old Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1050 County Road 1128, Troy, AL 36079 or the Montgomery Cancer Center, 4145, Carmichael Road, Montgomery, Al 26106-2803.
