One year is nice, but two years is a trend.
Coming off of their best season in school history, the Troy University soccer team will look to build on its 2014 success with another run at a conference title.
Tuesday, head coach Jason Hamilton announced the team’s 19-game 2015 regular season schedule, which includes nine home games.
The Trojans will begin the year with an exhibition match against a familiar foe in the Florida Gators, the school Hamilton served as an assistant coach at before arriving to Troy.
Troy will open its non-conference and regular season slate when they host Gardner-Webb on Aug. 21. The non-conference schedule is highlighted by a trip to Tuscaloosa to face SEC opponent Alabama on Aug. 23. The Trojans will also face UT-Martin and Louisiana Tech in the annual Trojan Classic on Aug. 28 and 30 respectively.
Troy opens Sun Belt play with a rematch of last year’s conference tournament championship game as the Trojans host South Alabama on Sept. 25.
In the remainder of their home schedule, Troy will host Texas State (Oct. 9), Appalachian State (Oct. 11), Arkansas State (Oct. 23) and UALR (Oct. 25).
For four of its nine conference games, Troy will hit the road to ULM (Oct. 2), UL Lafayette (Oct. 4), Georgia Southern (Oct. 16) and Georgia State (Oct. 18).
Troy will look to improve on its school-best 16-6 record of 2014 that saw the Trojans fall in the conference championship game.
The Trojans will return key starters who rewrote the record books in 2014, goalkeeper Mikki Lewis and midfielder Alissa Jones.
