Thursday night brings cold weather

Cold weather is rolling into Troy once again.
Today’s forecast calls for a high of 53 degrees with a north wind of 5 to 15 mph, and the temperatures will drop to a low of approximately 25 degrees tonight.
A cold front was scheduled to arrive Wednesday night with the rain, allowing a high pressure to settle in over the area. The high pressure brings northerly wind behind the front, causing the temperatures to drop in the area.
“The biggest impact would just be the cooler temperatures moving in,” said Tara Goggins with the National Weather Service in Birmingham. “It will be a fairly dry front.”
Stronger winds of 10 to 15 mph will cause the air to feel colder than the actual temperature.
“It will feel like it’s in the 40s, even during the warmest part of the day,” Goggins said. Fortunately, the winds will decrease by that evening when the lowest temperatures will occur.
As Friday arrives, the surface winds will switch back to the south, allowing warmer, moist air back into the air. This will cause temperatures to rise once again.
Friday expects to see a similar forecast of sunny and a high of 51 degrees with temperatures dropping to a low of approximately 30 degrees.
The weekend will bring hints of spring with highs near 64 degrees on Saturday and 70 degrees. Lows will still be chilly, but will not drop below freezing.
Saturday will be sunny, while Sunday will be partly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of rain.
