The Pike Liberal Arts softball team couldn’t come back from an early-game deficit, falling to rival Lee-Scott 7-3 Tuesday in Auburn.
Lee-Scott got out to a fast start Tuesday, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a Brittney Rice RBI single and a Landan Delamar RBI single.
The Patriots responded in the third inning, tying the game 2-2 after a Kayla Benton RBI triple scored Callee Jinright and an Amberlyn Baker RBI scored Benton.
After briefly taking a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning off of a Danielle Brown homerun, Lee-Scott stormed back with five unanswered runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a commanding 7-3 lead.
Lee-Scott’s Shelby Rice earned the win for her complete game, seven-inning performance.
Bailey Rushing took the loss, pitching six innings and allowing six earned runs on seven hits.
