Charles Henderson baseball traveled to historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham last weekend for a doubleheader, winning 12-2 over Dora and, later in the day, 4-3 over Hiram (GA).
In the first game, the Charles Henderson offense had no problems getting the bats going, outhitting Dora 11-3 in the game.
Chase Smartt, Cole Wilson and Bryson Gandy all led the team with two RBIs each.
Reilly Fox got the win for the Trojans, pitching four innings while giving up three hits and one earned run.
In the nightcap, Charles Henderson was able to hold off a late-game Hiram rally to secure the 4-3 win.
After a two-run bottom of the first, Hiram outscored Charles Henderson 3-2 but fell short in the final inning.
Chase Hartley earned the win, pitching five and two-thirds innings, while allowing three earned runs on eight hits.
“I was really proud of the way the guys played,” Charles Henderson head coach Derek Irons said. “We played three games in less than 24 hours and three games in two different towns and won all three. I was really proud of the way we played especially the last game against Hiram. We competed really well.”
