Jane Putnam Barr, age 90, died May 14, 2015 in Montgomery, Alabama where she resided for the last four (4) years.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and her devoted husband Robert E. Barr of Brundidge, Alabama. She is survived by her sons Retired Judge Robert W. Barr (Nancy) of Troy, Alabama and Dr. Gerrie C. Barr (Pam) of Panama City, Florida, grandchildren Meredith Barr FitzGerald (Sean) of Demopolis, Alabama, Robert William Barr, Jr. (Kim) of Daphne, Alabama, Katie Scott (Eric) of Troy, Alabama and Alex Barr of Panama City, Florida and three (3) great grandchildren.

Jane was born in El Paso, Texas on October 24, 1924, served in the civil service during World War II in Alaska where she met and married her husband. She graduated from Troy State University, received her M.A. degree from Auburn University and taught at Pike County High School for 22 years.

Graveside services will be conducted Sunday May 17, 2015 at 4:00 P.M. at Lakeview Cemetery, Brundidge, Alabama with Reverend Steve Winton officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association-Alabama-Florida Panhandle, 223 W. Gregory Street, Pensacola, Florida 32502 or to your favorite charity.
