Your actions – refusing to issue marriage licenses in the wake of the June 26 U. S. Supreme Court decision on gay marriage and your removal of your office’s Facebook page (likely to run from well-deserved criticism of the previous) – are an embarrassment both to the office you hold and to the state of Alabama.

Given your word-parsing of Alabama Code Section 30-1-9, I can well imagine that you’re currently making hasty and covert plans to delete any reference to the issuing of Marriage Licenses from the Probate Judge job description.

It’s what a coward would do, after all.
