Due to the possibility of stormy weather Friday night, the Tailgate Party on the Square was moved to The Studio. Open-mic was cancelled, but Casual remained the main entertainment.

“We are so thankful that the Johnson Center for the Arts allowed us to have our event here at The Studio due to the weather,” said Leigh Anne Windham with the City of Troy. “The band is fabulous and the kids and adults are really enjoying them.”

Jaada Tyner, a Troy local, has come to every event in the Fall Party series.

“I enjoy the downtown area and all of the events,” Tyner said. “It’s really fun with all the entertainment artists and activities they have.”

Tyner said she enjoys having something to do that is fun for the entire family.

“It’s hard to find family-friendly events,” Tyner said. “Because it’s a small city, there are not too many things for the kids to do. Something like this where they can just play and dance to the music is great because the band isn’t doing or singing anything derogatory.”

The Tailgate Party is part of the Fall Party Series put on by the City of Troy to promote Downtown Troy and bring the community together for fun and fellowship.

“The Fall Party series for downtown has been very successful and we are looking forward to those that are upcoming,” Windham said.

The Park Band is schedule to perform at the Homecoming Party on Oct. 16, the Friday night before Troy University’s homecoming game.

“We think a lot of people from the community will come and support that,” Windham said. “We love being able to have great music and being able to come together as a community. People come together from different age groups and different walks of life to enjoy these events together.”

Windham said she looks forward for the events to come, hoping that more and more of the community becomes involved.

“We just want to do anything we can to promote Downtown Troy and offer more for the community to participate in,” Windham said. “We do the best we can to find artists and plan events that everyone will enjoy.”
