Troy man arrested for attempted murder

A Troy man faces attempted murder charges after a shooting that left a woman in critical condition on Wednesday.
Alfred Lorenzo Jones, 22, was being held in the Pike County Jail on $75,000 bond, according to information released to Chief Randall Barr.
Troy PD responded to the 500 block of Elm Street Road at approximately 11:30 a.m. after receiving information that a shooting that occurred at a residence. They found the victim in the apartment with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police located Jones on Farrior Street in Troy and took him to the police department. After investigation and questioning, detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant on Jones, Weed said.
Police have not released details about the victim, but said she was flown to a Montgomery hospital where she remained in critical condition late Wednesday.
“She is still in critical condition,” Weed said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim. We hope that she can recover from this crime.”
Details about the shooting have not been released, as it remains under investigation. “The incident was not domestic related,” said Lt. Bryan Weed with the Troy Police Department. Weed also confirmed that this incident is in no way related to the previous shootings this week.
“I just want to say thank you to the Troy Police Department and all who have assisted in this investigation,” Barr said. “I appreciate all the hard work that has gone into this case and the incidents this week.”
This case is still under investigation by the Troy Police Department.
