The Brundidge Business Association invites everyone to the annual Christmas Parade in downtown Brundidge at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
“We want everyone to come and be a part of ushering in the Christmas season either as a participant in the parade or as a spectator and then stay around to enjoy the activities following the parade,” said Lamar Steed, BBA parade chair.
Steed said already around 50 units have registered for the parade and more are expected to join the lineup that includes floats, flags, bands, firefighters, kids, horses, queens, dignitaries and a politician or two.
“You don’t have to have a number to be in the parade,” Steed said. “Those with riding entries are asked to lineup at the National Guard Army around 5:30 p.m. Everybody else will lineup at BB&T.”
As people gather for the parade, they will be entertained by the SheBANG! Cloggers at Brundidge City Hall at 5:30 p.m. and then enjoy the 2015 Brundidge Christmas Parade.
“Of course, Santa Claus will be the special guest at the parade and he will visit with the children following the parade at the Knox Ryals Pavilion on the grounds of City Hall,” Steed said. “The first- through fourth-grade students at Pike County Elementary School and Banks School will entertain with Christmas songs on the porch of City Hall and Mayor Jimmy Ramage will light the city’s Christmas Tree and we encourage everyone to stay for the activities at City Hall.”
And, those who have registered for gift certificates at downtown businesses will want to be around for the drawings held at City Hall following the parade.
Steed said twelve businesses are offering gift certificates for the Brundidge business promotion.
“People can register at these 12 businesses for the drawings for the gift certificates,” Steed said.
“After the parade, we’ll draw for the certificates and the winners can take the certificates to the participating stores and redeem their prizes. We encourage everyone to shop Brundidge to see what all we have to offer and to register for these great prizes while they are in the stores.”
