“We are excited with the number of students that are interested in archery in our school system,” Lee said. “The unique thing about it is that every participant has the opportunity to shoot as an individual. (They all shoot) the same exact amount of arrows.”

Lee said the regional event will be a good measuring stick and will determine if the team or any individual archers are invited to the state tournament.

“This is a good measuring stick as far as we will fare at state,” Lee said. “By doing this tournament will be able to measure how you will do at the state competition.”

Teams that are scheduled to compete in Ozark are Carroll High School, Harvest Christian High School, Houston Academy, Dale County Christian, Sumiton Middle, Hidden Lake Elementary, Highlands Elementary to name a few.

The top twelve scores from each school will count for team competition. Four of those scores must come from the opposite gender. The awards will be given to the top three teams and to the top three scores of both boys and girls from each division.

In the state of Alabama it is expected that 4,000 archers will compete in nine different regional tournaments. The top teams and individuals will be invited to the state tournament in Montgomery on April 7.
