James “Eddie” Boutwell, age 69, a lifelong resident of Troy, Alabama, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016. A funeral service will be held Monday, June 13, 2016, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Reverends Ramona Smith and Buck Hudgens officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Jim Goodson, Tim Spivey, Jondy Spivey, Miles Andrews, Larry Campbell, and Butch Bryan serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the VFW Post 7055 of Brundidge and the staff and volunteers of Hospice Advantage. Visitation will be Sunday, June 12, 2016, from 4 – 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Boutwell was a decorated Vietnam veteran having served from 1968 to 1970 and a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a lifelong, loyal member and faithful servant of Center Ridge Methodist Church. Mr. Boutwell was preceded in death by his parents, James and Edna Boutwell; brother, Keith Boutwell; and aunt, Edith Grimes. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joyce Bryan Boutwell; his loving dog, Pee Wee; nephew, Cliff (Julie) Boutwell; great-nieces, Madison and Savannah Boutwell; uncle, Oree Grimes; special friend, Zachary Andrews; and several cousins.
