Charles Henderson High School principal Brent Harrison turned in his resignation Tuesday to return to Enterprise as an assistant principal, according to Troy City Schools Superintendent Dr. Lee Hicks.

“He was offered a position to come back home with the possibility of growth in the future,” Hicks said. “He felt like it was a move he needed to make, which I understand.”

Harrison’s wife is from Enterprise and is employed in the area, said Hicks, which may have been a factor in his decision. Harrison could not be reached for comment by publishing time.

“He did a wonderful job here,” said Hicks. “He and I had a good relationship. He’s been 100 percent committed while he has been here. He had to weigh out his options. There’s a bright future for him in Enterprise and there would have been a bright future for him here as well.”

Hicks said that the Board of Education is advertising for the position now and plans to conduct interviews on the week of July 11. Hicks said he’s hoping for a recommendation by July 18.
