James Otis Hobdy, 64, died on July 15, 2016 in Troy, Alabama. He was a beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, nephew, and most of all, grandfather.

He was born on March 31, 1952 in Troy, Alabama to Sylvester and Carrie Mae (Murry) Hobdy.

He was drafted to serve in the Vietnam War, and because he loved the military, James ultimately served 21 years in the U.S. Army. After he retired, he could not stand to sit still, so he began working for Bank One. Eventually, Bank One closed and he and his bank family moved to Ent Federal Credit Union where he worked until his hip replacement.

James had a smile that would light up a room, and his laughter was contagious.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carrie Mae and Sylvester Hobdy, and his biological father, Thomas Anderson.

James is survived by his wife, Robin Lee Hobdy; his daughters, Katherine Denise Hobdy (Flores) and Carrie Mae Hobdy (Cox); his step-children, Derrik Paris, Trisha Fambro, and Tiffiany Conkrite; his sisters, Mary Hobdy and Sharon (Judy) Hobdy; his brother, James Earl Hobdy; an aunt, Sweetie Mae Siler; his eight grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and his twelve step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
