The Troy Tiger Sharks wrapped up the summer schedule with a third place finish in the state swim meet in Birmingham.
The Tiger Sharks brought along 15 swimmers to Birmingham and entered the meet as members of the small division.
“It was fun,” said coach Nicklaus Chrysson. “The kids did really well. They did better than what we expected.”
All of the swimmers finished in the top 30 in individual events. Addison Bruner finished in first place in the 100-meter freestyle in the 11- and 12-year-old girl division.
“We had a lot of swimmers that did really well,” Chrysson said. “It feels great because we only had two and half months to work with them. They picked up a lot. This was a big meet for them and I thought they did really well.”
The meet wrapped up a busy summer of swimming for the Tiger Sharks. Team members swam in a total of six meets.
“I enjoyed it a lot,” Chrysson said. “Some of the kids that I don’t know surprised me. I worked with 8 and under kids last year, and this year I worked with the group and there were surprises.”
The overall objective of the summer was to grow and continue to learn about swimming and according to Chrysson it was a successful summer.
“We saw most of the growth with the 8 and under crowd,” Chrysson said. “They soak up so much at that age. They are so attentive and they want to swim and swim well.”
