The Goshen Eagles football team will host a scrimmage this evening. Following the scrimmage both the football and volleyball teams will be at the Goshen Annex for the annual Meet the Eagles event.

After a long offseason and a grueling spring and summer schedule, the Goshen Eagles will put everything together Friday night in a scrimmage.

“It’s going to be good,” said Eagles head coach Bart Snyder. “First of all, it’s going to show us what we got. We have had some good practices, but this will give us an opportunity for more competition. It’s going to help us get some guys into position, especially on the offensive line.”

The Eagles have a lot of new players wearing the purple and gold this year, and Friday night’s contest will be their first experience under the lights and in front of a large group of fans.

“I think it’s going to help,” Snyder said. “I think it will be a lot of help next week when we go down to Elba. Tomorrow night will definitely have some excitement. The boys are already talking about it. They are talking about who is playing who. That is the intensity we want in everything that we are doing.”

With some positions still unfilled, players will be battling for starting spots.

“That is what this whole summer and fall camp has been like,” Snyder said. “There have been a lot of competitions so far. We are still thin in certain areas. We are hoping to get some of these guys in and get them some competition.”

After the conclusion the game, the Eagle football and the volleyball team will gather at the Goshen Annex for the “Meet the Eagles” event. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be served.

“It will be really good,” Snyder said. “Usually when the ball games finish the fans just go home. The volleyball team will be out there as well, mixing and mingling with the people.

“We have a great community and a great booster club that supports our programs. When you have a little school like this it is very important to have people like that supporting us.”

Kick off is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the Meet the Eagles event scheduled for 7:30.
