MESSICK, Louise Green, 96, of Phenix City, Al passed away peacefully in her sleep at Phenix City Healthcare on Monday, August 29, 2016. She had fought Alzheimer’s disease for over 10 years before finally leaving us to rest.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy, Al with Reverend Averyt Walker officiating. Burial to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park with Dillard Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held prior to the service in the chapel from 1:30-2:00 pm.
Louise, known as “Bees” to her family and friends, always said, “You have to love yourself before you can love others.” She always enjoyed the company of others and told everyone she loved them.
Louise was born to the late W.P. Green and Ola Green of Josie, Alabama. She moved to Phenix City, Alabama and Columbus, Georgia early after her marriage to the late Reynolds Messick but later returned to Josie for retirement. There she helped run a family grocery for several years. She attended Ramar Baptist Church and worked tirelessly for the Cemetery Fund.
Louise is survived by a nephew, Johnny Lawson and nieces: Carolyn, Karen, Sherrie and Maxine, as well as grand-nieces and nephews.
Louise was preceded in death by her siblings: C.W. Green, Riley Green, Myrtle Lawson and Lavada Price. As well as her husband, parents, nephews, step-brother, step-sisters and friends.
