Charles “Chuck” Oren Catrett, age 77, a longtime resident of Troy, Alabama, passed away Friday, September 16, 2016. A funeral service was held Monday, September 19, 2016, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Pastor Curtis Faulkner and Rev. Henry Reynolds officiating. Entombment followed in the Green Hills Mausoleum with Timmy Catrett, Chris Catrett, Shannon Catrett, Rico Moultry, Paul Faulkner, and Cliff Davis serving as pallbearers. A visitation was held Sunday, September 18, 2016, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Catrett retired after a long career of painting, working for many outfits and later launching his own business. Upon retirement, he indulged in his passion for antique cars, car shows, and his motorcycle. You would most always find him dressed in his signature “painter whites” and alongside his 1964 Galaxie 500. When he wasn’t at the car shows, Mr. Catrett was fine tuning his piano skills, learning to play by ear, and putting his talents to good use through numerous praise and worship ministries in the community. Mr. Catrett was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Katie Lee Catrett; and sister, Vera Beasley. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Catrett; daughter Annitta Catrett (fiancé Averett Moultry); brother, Ray (Magaret) Catrett; special sister-in-law, Judy Catrett; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his honor to Harmony Baptist Church/Cemetery Fund (704 County Road 7714 Troy, AL 36081). Friends and family can sign the guestbook online at www.greenhillsfuneralhome.net. The staff on Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Catrett family.
