Bulldogs fall to Admirals in playoffs

The Pike County Bulldogs’ season came to an end Friday when they fell to Bayside Academy 24-7 in the second round of the AHSAA Class 3A state playoffs.

The 10th ranked Bulldogs finish the season with a 9-3 record.

The Admirals jumped out a 17-0 lead in the first half when quarterback Reid Norton threw two touchdowns, one for 38 yards to Tucker Milteer and one to Austin White for five yards.

John Douglas added a 31-yard field goal to give the Admirals a 17-0 lead heading into halftime.

Bulldogs quarterback Jaidyn Wilson didn’t complete his first pass until the third quarter on Friday night. The Bulldogs didn’t get on the board until the fourth quarter, when Jahzarian Lampley ran for a touchdown from seven yards out. The drive covered 81 yards and the Bulldogs cut their deficit to 10 with 10:33 remaining.

Wilson finished the game completing four of 14 passes for 50 yards and two interceptions. Lampley finished with 31-yards on eight carries and one touchdown.

The Bulldogs totaled 144 yards compared to 183 by the Admirals. The Bulldogs turned the ball over three times including two interceptions and one fumble.

With the win the Admirals advance to take on Gordo next week.
