A Troy man is beginning his 30 year prison sentence after pleading guilty to rape and sodomy in the first degree in October.
Larodis Wilson, 27, was sentenced last Thursday to 30 years in the Alabama Department of Corrections by judge Thomas Head.
Wilson returned this Thursday to begin his sentence.
The charges were for events that occurred during the summer of 2010, when Wilson, then 21, raped and sodomized a 10-year-old girl. Jon Folmar, the prosecutor in the case, said that the victim knew Wilson and that Wilson had visited her home.
The30-year sentence actually falls on the low end of the potential sentence, as both charge are Class A felonies in Alabama that are punishable by up to 99 years in prison.
Other terms of Wilson’s sentence include a sex offender evaluation and treatment and avoiding contact with the victim.
Once Wilson gets out of prison, he will serve another 10 years suspension.
