The Pike County Education Retirees Association (PCERA) will host a tea for all new retired teachers, educators and administrators from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, at the Troy Recreation Department Multi-Purpose Room.
Peggy Lane, PCERA publicity and public relations chair, said the association members look forward to seeing all individuals who are retired and ready to become members.
“The PCERA will resume our meetings for the 2017-2018 program year with the tea and hope to have all teachers, educators and administrators who recently retired join us as we begin our new program year,” Lane said.
The PCERA’s final meeting of the 2016-2017 program year was held in May at the Troy Recreation Department.
“The ‘Chat & Chew’ covered dish luncheon provided the retired members an opportunity to fellowship together and a time to reflect on how teachers have touched lives,” Lane said. “Some people, no matter how we find them, are as essential to our lives as breathing in and out.
“To love is to place our happiness in the happiness of another. Schoolteachers and educators work for a cause, not applause. They live life to express, not impress. They don’t strive to make their presence noticed but to make their absence felt.”
The members of the PCERA continue to work for a cause, to live to express and to strive to make their absence felt.
Lane said all newly retired educators and retired non-members are invited to attend the PCERA tea on August 10 and learn more about the association and hopefully decided to become active and involved members.
