Troy BOE hires new CHHS vice principal, fills other vacancies

The Troy Board of Education held a special meeting Thursday morning to finalize personnel for the 2017-2018 school year.
The school board had already filled most positions before the year kicked off Wednesday. Among the positions still open was a vice principal position at Charles Henderson High School (CHHS).
The board approved the hire of Christina Anderson to the position among the other personnel action.
“She is a veteran educator who is going to come into Charles Henderson High School and be dynamic in every facet of the word,” said Brock Kelley, CHHS principal. “Her strengths are in data and building rapport with students. We’re thrilled about having her on board here.”
Dr. Lee Hicks, superintendent, said the board was excited about the hire and filling the last few positions for the school year. “We’re excited that we’ve been able to fill the vacancies that we’ve had come available,” Hicks said. “We feel we have a wonderful new addition to our administrative team. We’re excited to see her grow as an administrator in our system. “
Anderson is taking the place of Tonya Keene, whose resignation was approved at the meeting.
The board also approved the resignation of Brittany Keene, CHHS history teacher. The board approved the hire of Thomas Swift to the same position.
The board accepted the resignation of Charles Henderson Middle School special education aide Sanchia Bennett and approved the hire of Frederick Burden to serve in the role.
The board also approved the hire of Spence Overstreet to serve as an in-school support aide at CHMS.
