Bullock County officials have found Lisa Theris alive after she went missing nearly a month ago from a hunting camp in Midway.
A woman reportedly spotted Theris, 25, of Louisville on the roadside of Highway 82 between Midway and Eufaula around 2 p.m. and notified authorities.
Theris was reported missing to the Troy Police Department July 23. Her father and friends said they had not heard from Theris since July 18.
During the course of the investigation, it was found that Theris had been with two Troy men– Randall Wade Oswald, 36, and Manley Green Davis, 31– when the two men went to a hunting camp in midway and reportedly stole over $40,000 worth of property including ATVs, four-wheelers and trailers.
Theris was taken to the emergency room with scratches. Sheriff Raymond Rogers said Theris has been living in the woods since her disappearance.
Troy Police Chief Randall Barr said this was the outcome they’ve been hoping for.
“As each day passed, it seemed less likely,” Barr said. “She’s obviously a strong young woman to have survived out in the woods that long. We’re so happy for her and her family that she is OK.”
Oswald and Davis were both arrested in recent weeks in connection with the burglary and had been questioned about the case.
