Lady Eagles fall to Straughn on opening night

The Goshen Lady Eagles began their 2017 volleyball season on Thursday night against Straughn.
The junior high Eagles began the night with a loss in two straight sets 25-27 and 17-25.
The junior varsity Eagles didn’t fare much better against the Tigers. They also fell in straight sets 22-25 and 19-25.
Olivia Kyzar had three aces, four points scored, seven assists and two digs. Avery Henderson had one ace, three points scored, two kills and two digs. Lexie McLendon finished with four aces, nine points scored, one kill and eight digs.
Goshen’s varsity squad closed out the evening losing in four sets 13-25, 22-25, 25-19 and 20-25.
Kate Warrick had two aces, eight points scored, two kills, 33 assists and two digs. Kelsey Gibson had one ace, two points scored, 12 kills, two solo blocks and five digs. Lydia Harrison finished with one ace, eight points scored, seven kills, one assisted block and two digs. Hannah Calhoun had three aces, six points scored, three kills and 17 digs.
The Eagles will be back in action next Tuesday when they host Andalusia beginning with junior high team at 4 p.m.
